01 / WHAT MATTERS ON THE EXAM

Intussusception: target sign on ultrasound — air or hydrostatic enema is both diagnostic and therapeutic; surgery if peritonitis or failed reduction.

02 / WHAT TO LOOK FOR

Target/doughnut sign on abdominal ultrasound (intussusception)

03 / WATCH OUT FOR

Enema reduction is appropriate only after stabilization and without peritonitis or perforation; shock or peritoneal signs require urgent surgical management instead.
