How tools connect

One topic. Connected learning.

Each resource is one tool in thecodexes.com system. Learn the fact, use it in a new situation and retrieve it later.

Your role: Make the fact retrievable.

Understand the fact in the Review Book and apply it in questions. Retrieve it here; return to the topic when recall exposes a gap.

  1. Review Book

Understand. Explain the mechanism, clinical rule and exception.

  2. Visual Companion

Trace. Rehearse the pathway or case where available.

  3. QuestionBook + QuestionBank

Apply. Commit, compare alternatives and test a new presentation.

  4. Image bank

Recognize. Describe the finding and connect it to the decision.

  5. Flashcards

Retrieve. Recall the fact and its reason before revealing.

  6. Audio Notes

Reinforce. When available, pause and recall before the explanation.

Let each gap guide your next step.

A question or recall miss points to a weak link. Repair it in the Review Book, clarify it with a pathway or image, then retrieve and test it again.

Each tool strengthens the work done in the others: understanding guides practice, practice exposes gaps, and visual recognition plus retrieval helps you use the corrected fact again.

Carry the topic ID or concept between available tools. Use topic links where provided, or search. Access varies; some resources remain in development. Start with the tool that addresses your gap.

What do the ratings mean?

Again: missed, guessed or could not recall. Hard: recalled with difficulty. Good: recalled independently. Easy: immediate, confident recall. Choose the rating that reflects your actual attempt.

When should I review again?

Use Review due cards on a later visit. Displayed intervals vary. Save for review marks a card for return; it is different from rating recall.

What if I remember the word but not why?

Read Why it matters and Watch for. Repair the explanation in the linked topic, then answer a related question. Recall should include the reason or decision, not just a familiar label.

Where is progress saved?

The public player’s instructions describe saved cards and next reviews as device-local. Do not assume account-wide sync. Free and licensed deck access differ.
