How tools connect

One topic. Connected learning.

Each resource is one tool in thecodexes.com system. Learn the fact, use it in a new situation and retrieve it later.

Your role: Build the clinical rule that the other tools help you rehearse, apply, recognize and retain.

Review Book → cue + action + exception → Visual Companion when available → QuestionBook/QBank → image interpretation → flashcard retrieval → repair the uncertain pivot.

  1. Review Book

Understand. Explain the mechanism, clinical rule and exception.

  2. Visual Companion

Trace. Rehearse the pathway or case where available.

  3. QuestionBook + QuestionBank

Apply. Commit, compare alternatives and test a new presentation.

  4. Image bank

Recognize. Describe the finding and connect it to the decision.

  5. Flashcards

Retrieve. Recall the fact and its reason before revealing.

  6. Audio Notes

Reinforce. When available, pause and recall before the explanation.

Let each gap guide your next step.

A question or recall miss points to a weak link. Repair it in the Review Book, clarify it with a pathway or image, then retrieve and test it again.

Each tool strengthens the work done in the others: understanding guides practice, practice exposes gaps, and visual recognition plus retrieval helps you use the corrected fact again.

Carry the topic ID or concept between available tools. Use topic links where provided, or search. Access varies; some resources remain in development. Start with the tool that addresses your gap.

Study tips · Step 2 CK Review Book

How much should I do first?

Start with one concept. Read enough to explain the mechanism or clinical rule, close the page, then try a related question. Repair one weak link before adding another topic.

How do I make the facts useful?

Keep the cue, action and exception together. Check stability, timing and contraindications. Explain why another branch does not apply; do not turn conditional advice into a universal rule.

How should I use the alternatives?

Use Watch for as a retrieval prompt. Explain the Trap and distinguish the closest look-alike in Do not confuse. Keep Numbers with their population, units, timing and exceptions.

How do I repair a miss?

Record item/topic, confidence, missed clue or link, error type, corrected rule and a retest prompt. Repair the narrow gap in the Review Book, then attempt a different presentation after a delay.

How do I connect the books?

Use the Step 2 QuestionBook’s REVIEW topic/page and Appendix F. Page references depend on the companion edition. Carry the topic ID into available related resources.

What counts as understanding?

Explain the reason, separate a plausible alternative and apply the rule to changed facts. Recheck after a delay. Book percentages and repeated-item familiarity do not establish a validated exam-score prediction.
